I have a question pertaining to the practice of CMR. It seems like since starting CMR some 3 weeks ago my sessions have not been as good as they were when I once started. I figured that this may be because I am allowing more effort to be introduced into the process and it is because of this effort that my sessions don't seem to be as good as they once were. So here is what I've started doing until I can get my sessions more to the effortless stage where they should be.
I took your 15 minute guided CMR audio session and cut a 15 minute silent segment out of it and pasted it back onto your original 15 minute audio so that now instead of 15 minutes this guided meditation session is now 30 minutes. After having done that I listen to this 30 minute session whenever I do my twice daily CMR sessions. Thus far it seems to be working quite well as getting me to do effortless meditation's once more.
Now the question I have for Gavin or anyone else reading this is this.
Is it ok to listen, on a regular basis, to this 30 minutes guided audio session until I feel comfortable enough to do without it even if this takes as long as 30 days or so to get to that comfort level? Is there a better way to approach this other than listening to this 30 minute audio session on a regular basis? The point is, is I want to eventually be able to do CMR each and every time in an effortless manner to get the most out of it without having to rely on a 30 minute audio session. I am open to any and all ideas as to how I might make this so.
One last thing before I go. I know that effortless is the key to making CMR work at its finest. How do I know this? Well for one whenever I listen to the 30 minute audio session my CMR sessions are always effortless for while into CMR I can literally feel myself highly relaxed and when I come out of such sessions this relaxation is very noticeable.
On the other hand when I don't listen to the 30 minute guided audio session but do them on my own my sessions don't seem to be as great as they were when I was listening to the audio. This leads me to believe that the reason why I feel such a difference between the two is that in the first case (listening to the audio) it's as if my thought processes are allowing the narrator to employ all the effort while I listen in an unhurried effortless manner whereas when I do the sessions on my own the tendency to introduce more effort presents itself. This is why I am convinced that effortlessness, as Gavin has said, is the key. My only problem is how to disengage the mind so that no effort is involved. This is why I rely on the 30 minute audio session for now but I don't want the audio to become a crutch.
